  1. In order to use the Home Movie Librarian, you must first un-pack the file 
  2. using pkxarc or pkunpak onto a disk that has atleast 720k free memory.
  3. As an example, I will show you how to un-pack the file to your C: Hard Disk 
  4. drive:

  6. From the C> Prompt
  7. Type                    Comments
  8. ----------------------  ---------------------------
  9. md hml                  Makes a sub-directory called hml
  10. cd hml                  Changes to sub-directory hml
  11.                         insert Home Movie Librarian Disk in Drive A
  12. copy a:*.*              Copies HML.ARC to your hard drive
  13.                         in the sub-directory hml
  14. pkxarc -e hml.arc       You must have the program pkxarc in order to
  15.                         un-pack the home movie librarian.  (pkunpak also
  16.                         works)
  17.                         After you type pkxarc -e hml.arc the following
  18.                         files will be created:

  20. HML      DOC            Contains info on the Home Movie Librarian (Read it)
  21. TAPES    DAT            Data file and 2 key files containing the information
  22. TAPES    K01            stored on each tape in your library.
  23. TAPES    K02
  24. ACTORS   DAT            This data file & Key files contain all the actors
  25. ACTORS   K01            in each movie in the master movie list.
  26. ACTORS   K02
  27. CNTRIES  DAT            This data & Key file contain a list of the countries
  28. CNTRIES  K01            that movies where made in.
  29. TYPES    DAT            This data & Key file contain a list of the different
  30. TYPES    K01            movie types (eg Western, Action, etc...)
  31. MOVIES   DAT            This data file & Key files contain the information
  32. MOVIES   K01            found in the master movie listing.
  33. MOVIES   K02
  34. MOVIES   MEM            Memo field that has the movie review/summary info.
  35. MOVIE    EXE            This is the entire Home Movie Librarian program.

  37. Now that you have un-packed your copy of Home Movie Librarian, all you
  38. need to do is type:  MOVIE <Enter key> to run the program.

  40. Optionally you could create a batch file to run The Home Movie Librarian.

  42. In a sub-directory that has a path assigned to it, type:

  44. Copy con:hml.bat
  45. cd\hml
  46. movie <F6 key> <Enter>

  48. From that point on you can run the program simply by typing: HML <ENTER>.
