In order to use the Home Movie Librarian, you must first un-pack the file
using pkxarc or pkunpak onto a disk that has atleast 720k free memory.
As an example, I will show you how to un-pack the file to your C: Hard Disk
drive:
From the C> Prompt
Type Comments
---------------------- ---------------------------
md hml Makes a sub-directory called hml
cd hml Changes to sub-directory hml
insert Home Movie Librarian Disk in Drive A
copy a:*.* Copies HML.ARC to your hard drive
in the sub-directory hml
pkxarc -e hml.arc You must have the program pkxarc in order to
un-pack the home movie librarian. (pkunpak also
works)
After you type pkxarc -e hml.arc the following
files will be created:

HML DOC Contains info on the Home Movie Librarian (Read it)
TAPES DAT Data file and 2 key files containing the information
TAPES K01 stored on each tape in your library.
TAPES K02
ACTORS DAT This data file & Key files contain all the actors
ACTORS K01 in each movie in the master movie list.
ACTORS K02
CNTRIES DAT This data & Key file contain a list of the countries
CNTRIES K01 that movies where made in.
TYPES DAT This data & Key file contain a list of the different
TYPES K01 movie types (eg Western, Action, etc...)
MOVIES DAT This data file & Key files contain the information
MOVIES K01 found in the master movie listing.
MOVIES K02
MOVIES MEM Memo field that has the movie review/summary info.
MOVIE EXE This is the entire Home Movie Librarian program.
Now that you have un-packed your copy of Home Movie Librarian, all you
need to do is type: MOVIE <Enter key> to run the program.
Optionally you could create a batch file to run The Home Movie Librarian.
In a sub-directory that has a path assigned to it, type:
Copy con:hml.bat
cd\hml
movie <F6 key> <Enter>
From that point on you can run the program simply by typing: HML <ENTER>.
